Great Scots Appeal

At Scottish Times we believe that every young person living in Scotland has great potential. This is why we have teamed up with The Polar Academy – a truly amazing project that takes young people from under-privilged backgrounds on Arctic expeditions. Partnered with the European Space Agency (ESA) each youth will learn how to work drones on the expedition and feedback scientific information from the trip.

Each young explorer who goes on the expedition is chosen after a selection process. He or she will be trained at Glenmore Lodge and then when the trip commences the group of 10 young Scots and their expert team will be dropped in the Arctic by helicopter. They will then explore the area in sub-zero temperatures and have an experience far beyond their day-to-day lives back home. Once completed each explorer will go on to deliver speeches at schools across Scotland to share their experience and help inspire their peers to become Great Scots too!

The Polar Academy has raised funds and attracted sponsors however they require a further £150,000 to make the first expedition possible. Please contribute and help make The Polar Academy a reality. Tell your friends and let us know what you think of this project and if it has inspired you!
